My husband and I have traveled to 49 of the 50 states and taken a few cruises. Health problems are preventing anymore long trips, but that is not stopping us. My title simply refers to the fact we can no longer take long leisurely vacations. However we can take short small trips. I plan to share these as we continue to enjoy traveling.
One recent day trip took us close to home in the town of New Iberia in Louisiana. Although I have lived in Louisiana for over 50 years I had never been to Rip Van Wrinkle gardens. The ,day T the front desk was friendly, helpful, and informative the grounds were interesting with numerous statues, and plants. I found the house beautiful and it's history interesting, however the most interesting feature of this garden is the number of peacocks in residence! 32 yes 32 peacocks are on the grounds. It was a treat to both see and hear them. I wasn't able to take mzny pictures of them Nd other things as we had Jelly Bean, our dog with us I can Ssure you she does not like peacocks. We did not eat there although there is z nice restaurant on the grounds. I did find out there are cottages to rent and the overnight fees are reasonable. We plan to go back and spend the night soon. Through these short descriptions of our travels I hope to encourage disabled and elderly people like us to either keep traveling (hopping) or if traveling has not been a part of your life start now it is t too late
I will post more of our adventures as time goes on, both our current trips and I will include places we have been in the past for those readers who do not live in the South
